Progression Brewing Company at "Summer on Strong" in Northampton, MA


Even better than last year - maybe the start of a tradition.


Thankfully, the good people of Northampton, MA decided to bring back a Covid era attraction for another "Summer on Stong".

Entrance to "Summer on Strong" from Main St. The entertainment is located under the tented awning seen in the distance. "Summer on Strong" extends an equal distance beyond the area for the entertainers.

"Summer on Strong" - a two block long dining and entertainment venue where again the surrounding restaurants of Strong Ave. have joined forces with the city and corporate sponsors to create a beautiful and ample outdoor seating area - beautifully decorated with benches, tables & chairs, umbrellas, and lots of live plants, featuring plenty of dining options and a live music schedule!

"Life is a Progression, enjoy the journey!" Progression Brewing is one of the many area eateries with dedicated space on this tree lined street. Our thoroughly enjoyable afternoon started with a surprise - Kelley and Lisa arrived around 3:30 to pick me up with Sean in the driver's seat. He drove the entire trip - both ways - and did a great job - having had his learner's permit barely two months.


When we arrived at "Summer on Strong" a small band was setting up in the stage area and we pretty much had our choice of seating as the area was not too populated. We selected a table and chairs in the Progression Brewery seating area - a short distance from the entertainment. Sean kept our table while Lisa, Kelley, and I selected our refreshments.

- CONNECT THE DOTS - another NEW ENGLAND IPA 7.0% ABV with tastes of grapefruit and peaches.

- THE ADULTS ARE TALKING - a NEW ENGLAND IPA 6.8% ABV with tastes of tangerine & coconut.

Lisa ordered food and non-alcoholic beverages (for Sean) from Local Burger. I wasn't very hungry, so I wound up having a few fries from a large order and a piece of Captain Crunch chicken which was also something we had ordered the year before. Lisa, Kelley, and Sean had custom burgers that looked simply delicious.

We stayed until well after 6 p.m. - the weather was glorious, the street filled with couples and small groups. The music was entertaining and occasionally the combo would stroll down the center aisle making brief stops at tables along the way. The earlier weather forecast called for showers early evening, but the skies remained light grey with a pleasant breeze.

That's Sean showing me some photos and videos from a car show he attended outside Philadelphia earlier this summer. Do I always grimace when viewing pictures on an iPhone? Nice shirt, though!

    You had a good day for the Summer on Strong festival. The band was a nice touch and the variety of food and brews available means there's something for everyone. I'm glad you all had a fine time.

 Sunday, October 20, 2024 While enjoying ourselves at Brick and Feather Brewery in Turners Falls, MA on Sept. 22 we spent a few minutes making some tentative selections for the next couple of months. One of our selections for October was Bright Ideas Brewery in Westfield, a satellite location to their original location in North Adams, MA. Today turned out to be an ideal opportunity to check this out because of the beautiful weather in the 70's and determining that the Williamsburg brew pub we also considered for October was not yet open to the public.  October 1, 2023 Our Spirited Tour discovers a nearby gem. Outlook Farm Winery & Brewery  136 Main Rd, Westhampton, MA 01027 ·  (413) 529-9388 outlookfarm.com It's been a busy end of Summer and start of Fall. With school, soccer, rowing, driving lessons, shopping and work, all making demands on Kelley and Lisa's time, we zeroed in on the first of October as being our next outing.
