The text came in at 9:04 a.m. from Lisa - "We are thinking about Skyline brewery for our outing later. What do you think?" I was peeling and trimming celeriac at the time and listening to some rather loud synth-wave that Linda had going in the dining area and completely missed hearing the signal on my phone. About 3 hours later, Lisa called and after I answered the phone asked the same question. "Heck yeah" was my instant thought. With that, the 2025 Spirited Tour kicked off. Seems like Westfield has yet another Brew Pub for us to visit.

Our Story

The Skyline story began in 2002 out of a shared love for home brewing and culinary experiments — you know, the “over-the-stove on Sundays” kind of stuff. After plenty of those Sunday sessions one of us thought out loud, "Hey … you think we could do this for work?" A little market research and a lot of dreams later, the Skyline Hop Shop was born in 2014. But, we knew we couldn’t stop there because the ideas and customers kept coming!

We soon expanded to form Skyline Trading Company: a restaurant, craft beer and wine bar, bakery, and home-brew supply store in downtown Westfield, MA. It didn’t take long at all before we outgrew that space and had to admit, "alright … we're gonna need a bigger boat. ". So we grew again!

Fast forward to today, we are we are now bigger and better than ever as Skyline Beer Co. showcasing a 4,500 square foot restaurant, tasting room, and ten-barrel brewery overlooking the beautiful, rolling hills of Western Mass. Beyond our beer, and thanks to our talented bar and kitchen crew, Skyline guests can treat themselves to any number of delicious items from our menu ranging from our bakery fresh pretzels, flatbreads salads and sandwiches to cocktails, wine, ciders, non-alcoholic options, slushies and house-made sodas.

But, here's the best part and what we're most proud of. Yeah, our little dream may have grown to become a whole lot bigger than we ever expected (thank you to our amazing and massively supporting customers!), but ultimately we're still three people huddled over the stove, testing new dishes, brewing new recipes, and sharing it all with whomever walks in the door.

Cheers to that!

We arrived around 3:45 and were warmly greeted at the entrance and escorted to our table setting. Our server, Arianna, answered our questions about the beers and food. We were impressed that Arianna didn't need to write down our initial beer order - we thought it was a lot to remember. Kelley ordered a flight of four - Flight B-mallow, Irish Goodbye with Peanut Butter, Vic & Sim, and Skyline Raspberry Jam. Lisa ordered a 12 oz. White Blaze and I ordered a pint of Skyline Daywrecker. That's a lot to remember! As quick as a wink, Arianna returned with our beverages and answered our new questions about the chicken wing and other food choices.

Settling in with our first beer order.

While enjoying our first beer order and awaiting our food order, we had the opportunity to look around and get a feel for the place. When we first arrived there was a pretty good crowd at the bar and only a handful of patrons at the tables. That quickly changed as more arrived including several young families with small children who were well behaved and carefully supervised by their parents. The vibe was friendly. It was noticeable that the place was adequately staffed with capable and knowledgeable people.

After a few minutes our food order arrived and it was as we hoped for.

a dozen wings with a tasty dry rub.

About this time we ordered our second round. I stayed with Skyline Daywrecker, Kelley ordered a Skyline B-Berry, and Lisa switched to a House Seltzer with Cranberry.

About 3 of our choices -

Raspberry Jam
Raspberry Jam Wheat beer with raspberry
5.2% ABV
Our raspberry jam had a nice wheat base and a vibrant red hue. We use over 100lbs of raspberries per batch. You will find the alight tartness leaves you coming back for more.

Vic & Sim IPA
Vic & Sim IPA Vic Secret and Simcoe hops
7.2% ABV
Vic & Sim is a NEIPA that pours a hazy straw-like color with aromas of tropical, pine, and passion fruit and has a full-bodied and silky smooth mouthfeel. We use primarily Vic Secret and Simcoe hops with a few splashes of Citra and Comet throughout the brew to add hints of citrus and mild grapefruit flavor.

White Blaze
White Blaze Wheat Beer - Other
5.3% ABV
Wheat beer with coriander and Cara Cara orange peel. Crisp and refreshing with a nice full mouthfeel.

As we were leaving after a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon we walked by the outdoor Beer Garden area. The tent was down, but the picnic tables were there - covered with about a foot of snow. We all agreed that the outdoor area seemed welcoming and perhaps we will return when the weather permits.

CHEERS!
